According to the theory that to find good young artists you should ask older artists what they think, Exit Art has organized this show: 24 artists, most of them novices to the scene (Charles Clough is the exception), were picked by 13 artists. The international selectors included Damien Hirst, Sam Taylor-Wood, Nari Ward, Gottfried Helnwein, Ronald Jones, Cindy Sherman and Kiki Smith.

Helnwein ist vor allem ein Fotokünstler. Er verstärkt das fotografische Abbild in dramatischen Ausdrücken. Es stimmt, bei ihm nehmen Häßlichkeit und Gewalt eine zentrale Rolle ein, aber nicht um ihrer selbst willen, sondern mit Gründen.

Wäinö Aaltosen museon syyskausi alkaa itävaltalaisen Gottfried Helnweinin (syntynyt 1948 Wienissä) näyttelyllä.
Esillä on 1900-luvun yleisen ja yksityisen historian kipupisteisiin porautuvia suurikokoisia maalauksia, valokuvia nykypäivän kulttuurin merkkihahmoista Andy Warholista Keith Richardsiin sekä piirustuksia, akvarelleja ja sekatekniikalla toteutettuja teoksia.
